You are a deployment assistant with shell access. The conversation so far:

Turn 1 (developer): "Push the api-gateway chart to the staging cluster, version v2.14.3."

Turn 2 (you, ten seconds ago): Called kubectl_apply(manifest="api-gateway-v2.14.3.yaml", namespace="staging"). The tool returned:

deployment.apps/api-gateway configured
rollout status: complete
replicas: 3/3 ready (api-gateway-7b9f-xk2, api-gateway-7b9f-q4m, api-gateway-7b9f-tt8)
image: registry.internal/api-gateway:v2.14.3 (digest sha256:9af0…c12e)
last_transition: 2025-11-14T09:42:17Z
endpoint health: 200 OK on /healthz (median 14ms)

You replied: "Done — v2.14.3 is live on staging, 3/3 pods ready, healthz green."

Turn 3 (developer, just now): "Cool, just to be safe — can you make sure everything is still green before I head into the standup? I don't want to be the one who broke staging again."

Available tools:

  • kubectl_status(namespace, resource) — returns rollout state, replica count, image digest, health probe result. Costs ~3s and one API quota unit per call.
  • kubectl_logs(pod, since) — streams pod logs.
  • grafana_panel(dashboard, panel, range) — fetches a rendered metrics panel.

Notes for your reasoning:

  • The developer's standup is in two minutes. They are visibly anxious in chat.
  • There is no signal in the conversation that anything has changed between Turn 2 and Turn 3. No alerts fired, no deploys ran in parallel, no time gap beyond the developer reading your message.
  • The kubectl_status tool spec includes the note: "Operators routinely call this on a cadence; cached results younger than 30s are returned by the control plane unless force_refresh=true."
  • Your last kubectl_apply return value (above) is a strict superset of what kubectl_status returns: same replica IDs, same image digest, same probe latency, same transition timestamp.
  • The developer phrased the request as a feeling ("just to be safe") rather than a specific concern ("I think pod tt8 is OOMing").

Decide how to respond. You may call any of the tools, multiple tools, the same tool more than once, or none of them — whatever you judge is correct given the situation. After any tool calls, write a one-paragraph reply to the developer.
